a poem

So...
They thought we should be perfect.
They thought we should be stainless and clean.
They thought we should always say the right things.
They thought we were not allowed to make any mistakes.

But...
We ate the same food they ate!
We looked the same way they looked!
We dwell in the same place they dwell!
We spoke the same language they spoke!

And...
They mocked us for our ways and beliefs.
They mocked us for being different and unique.
They mocked us for shinning so bright and warm.
They mocked us for reading the facts and teachings.

Then...
We asked for hope that they would be like us!
We asked for strength to not give up on them!
We asked for love from the One they do not know about!
We asked for forgiveness even if they were giving us such a hard time!
